Bombardier Commits To Aerospace Supply Chain

Bombardier Aerospace, Belfast and B/E Aerospace (UK) in Kilkeel, County Down, have committed to the delivery of the UK aerospace and defence industry supply chain development programme, SC21.

SC21 is a supply chain excellence programme that aims to influence best practice and help increase the competitiveness of aerospace and defence companies.

Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster said: "Bombardier Aerospace, Belfast has championed nine SC21 award-winning suppliers to date and is launching a third wave of the successful SC21 supply chain competitiveness programme with six new companies coming on board.

"This is positive news, as Bombardier Aerospace has been a key founding member of the programme and has helped create a solid platform on which to develop the capability of the aerospace sector in Northern Ireland and drive export growth.

"I am delighted that B/E Aerospace (UK) Ltd is broadening its long established commitment to support the local companies in its extended supply chain by becoming an SC21 champion. It is encouraging to see this important player in the sector actively partnering with local firms. Not only will this help them to develop skills and capacity, it will also improve the competitiveness of the local supply chain."

Dr Leslie Orr, Manager at ADS NI, the trade organisation that supports the UK Aerospace, Defence, Security and Space industries, said: "Northern Ireland has a very strong aerospace supply base and Bombardier is an outstanding champion of SC21 Business Excellence. Leading this third wave of suppliers through the programme further adds to the strength of the aerospace sector in the region.

"B/E Aerospace is also a prime manufacturer in Northern Ireland and it is excellent news that the business is joining the SC21 programme as a champion to support the development of the local supply base."
