Ex-NOTW Reporter Spared Jail
A former News of the World reporter has escaped a prison sentence after pleading guilty to phone hacking.
Dan Evans was given a 10-month suspended sentence after he told the court he had hacked into a number of celebrities voicemails, including Sienna Miller and Daniel Craig.
He was also ordered to carry out 200 hours of community work.
The 38-year-old also admitted making a false witness statement and conspiring to commit misconduct in a public office.

Community sentence plans for violent abusers
People who beat their partners and later show remorse may escape being jailed under guidelines to tackle domestic violence sentences. The Sentencing Guidelines Council said that offenders who showed "genuine signs of remorse" should be allowed to receive a community order or suspended sentence, instead of a custodial sentence.

No Criminal Charge Over Phone-Hacking Claims
Following an investigation into phone hacking claims at the News of the World David Cameron's Director of Communications, Andy Coulson, will not be facing criminal charges. Keir Starmer, Director of Public Prosecutions, said that no evidence existed to formally charge anyone.

Walliams Settles Hacking Claim With NGN
David Walliams has reached an undisclosed settlement with News Group Newspapers (NGN) over phone-hacking allegations. Walliams had begun a legal chase after being told by the news group that it had been intercepting his voicemail since 2005. No details of the settlement have been released but the figure is said to be "substantial".

Three people have been arrested as part of the investigation into inappropriate payments made to police and public officials. It is understood that two serving police officers and a journalist were arrested at their homes in Hertfordshire and Surrey by officers from Operation Elveden.
