MTV To 'Crash' L'Derry

MTV has announced it will stage stage this year’s second 'MTV Crashes' live music event in late September at L'Derry's Ebrington Square.

The event will be staged in collaboration with Derry City Council in front of 10,000 people across the weekend of September 19-21.

Ebrington Square will also play host to other related events including Club MTV DJs performing live sets and a local concert run and promoted by Derry City Council.

Kerry Taylor, Senior Vice President, General Manager, MTV UK said: "With one Crashes event already under our belt, we are delighted to be announcing details of our second. Londonderry is a fantastic city - steeped in history and named as 2013’s City of Culture, so we can’t wait to crash it! We look forward to working with local partners on the ground to stage a live music event that Derry won’t forget."

Mayor Cllr Brenda Stevenson said: "It promises to be a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase our city to a national and international audience. With a full weekend of activity, there will be music to suit all age groups. Today we are announcing details of the MTV music event which will be attractive to our young people in the city and wider region to experience one of the biggest music parties of the year."

'MTV Crashes Derry – Londonderry' will follow the MTV Crashes Plymouth event that took place on July 15 in front of a crowd of 20,000. Previous Crashes destinations also include Glasgow, Belfast and Manchester.

Thousands of tickets for the event, which will feature a selection of stand-out performances, will be released on August 9.
