'Tolkien's Tree' To Be Chopped Down
Oxford City Council has decide to fell "Tolkien's tree" on the grounds of Oxford University after two of its branches came down.
It is understood that experts at the council have decided that the 215-year old black pine.
The decision to chop down the tree, so-named as it was a favourite of JRR Tolkien, has been described as "heart-breaking".
Parts Of Snowdon May Be Sold
A farmer has hit back at critics of farming techniques on Snowdon by saying he may sell parts of Wales' tallest mountain.
Dafydd Morris is understood to be considering putting up to 600 acres of Snowdon on the market, a sale that is estimated could raise £7.5m
It is understood that the exact land to be sold has yet been decided but it is likely to contain Snowdon's most face cliff face.
Mr Morris said that he is "fed up with critics attacking how the area is farmed" and was going to "give them a chance" to manage the land themselves.
Woman Airlifted To Hospital After Being Pulled From Lake
A woman has been airlifted to hospital after being pulled from the Blue Lagoon lake in Bletchley near Milton Keynes.
Police say it is the same lake in which a 61-year-old man died last week, after a suspected 'medical episode'.
The latest incident happened at about 17:30 on Wednesday.
It is understood that safety patrols are to be stepped up in the area.

Olympic Flame Visits The Summit Of Snowdon
The Olympic Flame travels 79.35 miles from Beaumaris to Chester today, carried by 125 inspirational Torchbearers. Day 11 of the Olympic Torch Relay has already seen the Flame travel by RNLI Lifeboat and visit the summit of Snowdon, where it was carried by mountaineer Sir Chris Bonington.

Outdoor Smoking Ban To Be Enforced In Somerset
Taunton Deane Borough Council in Somerset have announced a smoking ban for children's outdoor play areas. A pilot scheme of the Local Government Declaration on Tobacco Control will be launched in Taunton, with the council saying that, if successful, it could be extended to all public areas it is responsible for.

Volunteers Continue Search For Missing Prosthetic Leg
Volunteer divers are conducting a search of a lake in Dorset for a prosthetic leg. The owner of the prosthetic, Roy Wright, lost the leg, worth £8,000, after jumping into the water at Lake Pier in Hamworthy. It is understood that Mr Wright was rescued from the water on Saturday by a passerby after he had gotten into difficulty in a strong current.

84% of people do not read the full terms and conditions when buying a financial product, according to the Money Advice Service. The decision cost the average adult £428 in 2013. One in three people don’t know what 'interest' means, while twice this proportion couldn't correctly identify the meaning of a 'budget'.
