£100,000 Cannabis Seized, Fermanagh

Cannabis plants estimated to have a street value of around £100,000 have been seized by police in Fermanagh.

The plants were discovered during a search in the Ports Road area of Newtownbutler on the evening of Saturday 9 August.

Cannabis cultivation equipment and other associated paraphernalia have also been seized by police.

Petrol Bomb Thrown, Portadown

Police in Portadown, County Armagh, are investigating after a petrol bomb was thrown in the Westland Road area of the town on the morning of Sunday 10 August.

The device hit a fence between too properties and caused minor damage. It was reported at about 05:40.

Officers investigating the incident are keen to hear from witnesses and can be contacted by calling the non-emergency number 101.

Tyrone Farmer Fined Over Water Pollution

A farmer from County Tyrone has been found guilty and fined £600 plus £28 court costs at Omagh Magistrates' Court for making a polluting discharge to a waterway.

Mr Brendan McBride, Gargadis Road, Trillick, Omagh, Co Tyrone, was charged following an inspection by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) on 20 March 2013.

Inspectors examined farm premises owned by Mr McBride and observed a milky discharge flowing to the waterway from a pipe. Dirty water in the storm drain was also observed, which was also discharging to the waterway. Approximately 700 metres of waterway was affected by the discharges.

Samples taken at the time of the incident confirmed that the discharges contained poisonous, noxious or polluting matter which was potentially harmful to fish life in the receiving waterway.

Man Slashed In Crossgar Assault

A man has been 'slashed' in an assault in Crossgar in County Down.

The victim was walking in the Kilmore Road area on Sunday at about 22:55 when a VW Golf drove past. It then turned around and drove towards him. Three men got out and attacked the man.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.

The PSNI have welcomed a two-year Stalking Protection Order (SPO) handed down to a 46-year-old Belfast man at Belfast Magistrates Court. The man had been found guilty of stalking and harassing his 50-year-old female ex-partner.

Man Jailed For Manslaughter Of David James Conville
A 31-year-old man has been jailed at Belfast Crown Court for the manslaughter of David James Conville in south Belfast in May, 2022. Edward Kelly was sentenced to serve three-and-a-half years, half of his sentence will be served in custody and half will be served on licence, following his guilty plea last November.

Appeal After Masked Men Force Entry Into Home Of Elderly Man
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information after five masked me forced entry into the home of an man aged in his 70s, on the Saintfield Road. Police received a report shortly before 11.30pm on Saturday, 17th February that between 10pm and 10.30pm on the same evening, five masked men entered a house in the Saintfield Road area.
