Flood Warnings Issued As Rain Continues

Weather warnings have been issued by the Met Office as parts of the UK continue to be affected by storms.

An orange "be prepared" warning has been issued for parts of Scotland over continued rain, while a wider "be aware" yellow warning is in place across eastern and northern Scotland, and north-east England.

The forecaster has said that parts of Scotland and the Somerset coast could suffer flooding due to the heavy rainfall.

There are currently four flood warnings, and 25 flood alerts in place across England, with a futher 30 flood warnings across Scotland. A flood warning means that flooding is "expected".

Met Office issues further severe weather warning
Another bout of severe weather is expected to hit north-western parts of the UK, mid-week, the Met Office has announced. It is predicted that there will be widespread gales across the UK, but Northern Ireland and many parts of Scotland are likely to be the worst affected, with gusts of wind up to 90mph, expected throughout Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Environment Agency has issued severe flood warnings are in place for Somerset today as successive bands of rain show no signs of easing. Further heavy rainfall is expected today, Friday and Saturday, exacerbating the risks of flooding from rivers and surface water across the south west, central and south east of England.

Flood Alerts Follow Snowfall
The UK Environment Agency has issued flood warnings across Britain, following another night of heavy snow. Some parts of the country woke to over 10cm (4in) of snow on Monday morning. Most areas have been covered in a white blanket at least 5cm deep.
