Delivery Driver Threatened In West Belfast

A delivery driver has been threatened and robbed of his food order in west Belfast.

The incident occurred of the Grosvenor Road in the early hours of Friday morning. It is understood three teenage boys demanded the food order from the driver.

Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

Call For Unionist Politicians To Oppose Welfare Cuts

Unionist politicians are being called to invest as much energy into opposing vicious welfare cuts as they have in acting as cheerleaders for a millionaire Tory cabinet.

Sinn Féin MLA Chris Hazzard said Unionist politicians are becoming increasingly desperate in their attempts to force the public to accept Tory-imposed welfare cuts.

He said: "DEL minister Stephen Farry is the latest in a procession of unionist ministers who have taken to the airwaves to tell people that the sky will fall in if we don't stand up to Cameron's millionaires.

"They are much less vocal about the impact the cuts would have on the disabled, the poor, the low paid and parents with young children, or about the loss to the local economy.

"They are happy to reduce money for those who are least able to afford it."

Two Women Die In Swim Tragedy

Two women have died in hospital after getting into difficulty while swimming.

A lifeguard called emergency services after the women, understood to be aged in their 60s and 70s, got into difficulty while swimming at Inch strand, Co Kerry.

The women were airlifted to Kerry General Hospital but were pronounced dead a short time later.

It is understood that the women had been swimming in a shallow section of the water.
