Deadline Set For Prospective Shipbuilder Buyers

Five o'clock on Thursday has been set as the deadline for offers on the Port Glasgow Ferguson Shipbuilders.

The shipbuilders was placed into administration last week, with 70 job losses. However, it is understood that there has been "significant interest" from prospective buyers.

Nato-Themed Fun Day To Be Held In Newport

A Nato-themed family fun day is to take place in Newport, ahead of next month's summit.

Food and drink representative of the 28 nations taking part in the summit will be displayed along the River Usk on Saturday, along side a number of family friendly activities.

The summit will take place on 4 and 5 September at the Celtic Manor Hotel in Newport.

HMS Plymouth Sets Off On Final Voyage

HMS Plymouth has set sail on its final voyage for Turkey where it is set to be scrapped.

The Royal Navy frigate is one of the last surviving warships from the Falklands War and was decommissioned in 1988.

It is understood that campaigners had been trying to raise the money to save the ship from the scrapyard.

Henman sees off Moya
Tim Henman has seen off a determined Carlos Moya seeded 25 in a marathon nail-biting first round match at Wimbledon. The first set was suspended due to rain at 3-5 with Moya fighting his way back into the first set after a comfortable looking start for a confident looking Tim Henman. Play did not resume again until 6.

Nato Protest Camp Set Up In Newport
A demonstration camp has been established at Tredegar Park in Newport ahead of next weeks Nato summit. Five days before the summit is due to begin, a protest camp has been set up, including kitchens, toilets and washing facilities.

On form Henman dismisses Heuberger
A slow start, but then a good performance from Tim Henman today saw the British number one player overwhelm Ivo Heuberger in straight sets in his second round match. But the typically uneven start by the top British player had the Centre Court crowd on the edge of their seats in the first set.

Coach Overturns On M1
A National Express coach has overturned on the M1 in Buckinghamshire. It is understood that the coach overturned at a service station near Newport Pagnell just after 4pm on Monday. According to reports, a number of people have been injured and fire crews are cutting the coach driver free. Four ambulances are currently at the scene.

Majority Of Newport Schools To Close For Nato Summit
Thirty eight of Newport's schools are to close on 04 and 05 September when the Nato summit takes place in the city. Newport has 57 schools in total; 48 primary and 9 secondary. Of these, 38 have said that they will be closed during the summit, 6 will close early, 3 will remain open as normal and the remaining 10 have yet to decide.
