Graeme McDowell Announces Baby's Birth

Graeme McDowell has become a father for the first time.

The golfer, who hails from Northern Ireland, shared the news via his Twitter account.

In a short message to his followers, the 35-year-old wrote: "Thanks so much for all the well wishes.

"Mum and baby girl are happy and healthy. Happiest moment of my life hands down. #daddy #love".

The new father was quickly inundated with congratulatory messages, one of which was from his fellow NI golfer Rory McIlroy, who said: "Congrats @Graeme_McDowell and @kristinstape on the birth of your beautiful baby girl! #DaddyGMac."

No pictures of the couple's child or her name have yet been released.
