Three Primary Schools To Join Together In L'Derry

The proposed amalgamation of three primary schools in Londonderry has been approved by Education Minister, John O'Dowd.

The Minister said "parental demand" was the key factor behind a decision to join Craigbrack, Listress and Mullabuoy Primary Schools, to create a single, co-educational, Catholic-maintained primary school.

It is understood that the new school will open in September 2015.

Age NI Conference Being Held At Queen's University

A conference looking at the increasing elderly population is to take place today at Queen's University.

Academics, public policy experts and those in the age sector are to meet to discuss how best to deal with issues effecting an ageing population, including housing, dementia and employment.

The conference has been arranged by Age NI.

Stormont Parties To Meet Former US Senator During 'Fact-Finding Mission'

Representatives of the five Stormont Executive parties are to meet former US Senator, Gary Hart, while on a fact-finding trip to Northern Ireland.

It is understood that Mr Hart is making the trip "in a private capacity" but is doing so at the request of the US Secretary of State, Victoria Nuland.

Mr Hart's trip is understood to be investigating how the United States could assist NI's political parties advance the peace process.
