47 Jobs In Magellan Expansion

47 jobs are to be created through a £6m investment by Magellan Aerospace in its Greyabbey, County Down operation.

Canadian-owned Magellan Aerospace acquired Northern Ireland company John Huddleston Engineering Ltd. in 2012 and currently employs 109 people. The company supplies products and services to aerospace firms including Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, GKN and Spirit AeroSystems.

Enterprise and Investment Minister Arlene Foster said: "This significant investment involves the construction of a new specialised assembly facility and additional advanced machining technology, leading to the creation of 47 jobs which are expected to be put in place over the next four years.

"This investment will further enhance Northern Ireland’s aerospace sector which is of vital importance. It will strengthen Magellan Aerospace (Greyabbey) as a supplier of machining, assembly, supply chain management and logistics to the global aerospace industry. The new advanced manufacturing jobs will contribute additional salaries into the local economy as well as introducing new manufacturing skills into Northern Ireland."

Haydn Martin, Magellan’s Vice President Business Development Europe, said: "With the acquisition of John Huddleston Engineering, Magellan strengthened its core manufacturing capabilities and expanded its European operations. This investment takes the Greyabbey plant to the next level and will enable us to support growth in our key customer programmes."
