British Council Wales To Run New EU Training And Volunteer Scheme

A new European Union training and volunteering scheme for young people at the British Council Wales is to create more than 50 jobs in Cardiff.

The UK arm of Erasmus+, will offer opportunities to more than 30,000 young people under the new scheme.

The British Council will run the scheme in partnership with Ecorys UK from the private sector.

The new jobs at British Council Wales include roles in grant delivery and management, customer service, finance, events and marketing.

Scrappage Scheme Boosts Car Sales
More than 35,000 new cars have been ordered through the UK's scrappage scheme, since it was introduced, new figures have revealed. This equates to one scrappage scheme order out of every five new car orders in this period. Gordon Brown welcomed three new car buyers that had benefited from the scheme at Downing Street this morning.

BBC hits staff ethnicity targets
The BBC has announced that it has met and slightly exceeded the target set in 2000 to have 10% ethnic minority staff by the end of 2003. As a result nearly 650 more people from ethnic minority backgrounds now work at the BBC compared with four years ago.

Trawlermen Consultation Launched
The Government today launched a consultation on its new scheme to compensate trawlermen who lost their livelihoods following the 1970s 'Cod Wars'. The consultation runs until 22 May. The Government intends to open the new scheme to applications in the summer.

Defra launches farmland conservation scheme
