Raccoon Escapes Ballymena Pet Shop

A raccoon has escaped from a pet shop in Ballymena, police have confirmed.

Known as Rab, the wild animal escaped from Jungle World on Linenhall Street in the town earlier this week.

He has been spotted at a number of locations across Ballymena, but has not yet been recaptured. The public have been warned not to approach the animal. Anyone who sees Rab is asked to contact police on 101.

Marianne Breen, PSNI Wildlife Officer, commented: "The raccoon has since been spotted in the local area, but it is not thought to pose a risk to people.

"However, members of the public are advised that the racoon is defined as a dangerous wild animal and so it shouldn't be approached."
