Healthy Living Centre Opens In Irvinestown
A new healthy living centre has been opened in Irvinestown, County Fermanagh.
Rural Development Minister Michelle O’Neill opened the centre today, which will integrate a range of care services and service providers.
It has been supported with £635,800 capital investment from South West Action for Rural Development (SWARD).
Minister O’Neill said: "The Rural Development Programme has been instrumental in providing the Irvinestown community in rural Fermanagh with these excellent new facilities. This is just one of dozens of projects in the Fermanagh, Cookstown, Magherafelt and Dungannon Council area within the SWARD region totalling over £15.6m, funded under the Rural Development Programme 2007-2013. The new Centre will benefit the whole community in providing a broad range of practical services and health promotion activities onto one site. The new sensory room in the Centre will provide children with disabilities with access to stimuli that they would not previously have had in their local community."
The SWARD Joint Council Committee chairman, Cllr Trevor Wilson, added: "SWARD’s delivery of the Rural Development Programme has made a huge impact locally on rural communities. The ARC Healthy Living Centre Health and Care village is an example of innovation in the delivery of services to rural areas which will benefit communities throughout Co Fermanagh. This project is an excellent example of how the Rural Development Programme is creating a lasting legacy for our rural communities which will be of benefit for many generations to come."

£623m Allocated For Rural Development Programme
A budget of £623m has been allocated for the Department of Agriculture's Rural Development Programme 2014 - 2020, it has been announced. Rural Minister Michelle O’Neill has said the 2014-2020 RDP budget would be allocated across three specific areas: protecting the rural environment, developing rural economies and competitiveness of agriculture.
