Tyrone Cannabis Factory Discovered

Police have uncovered a cannabis factory in Carrickmore in County Tyrone.

Officers carrying out a search under the Misuse of Drugs Act discovered and seized plants with a potential estimated value of around £50,000 in the property at Mullanmore Road yesterday, police said.

Equipment used in the cultivation of cannabis and other associated drugs paraphernalia were also found and have been removed for examination.

F District Inspector Robert McGowan said: "This was a substantial factory and evidence at the scene would suggest a very large number of plants, in addition to those found by police, may have been grown at that location and have since been harvested.

"Throughout F District officers remain determined to tackle the issue of drugs and to shut down the activities of those involved in their sale and supply in our communities.

"Information is vital and we would ask people to continue to bring information about illegal drugs to us so we can take action. The number to call is 101."
