Mothers Group Occupy Empty Housing Estate

A protest group has taken up a week-long occupation of a housing estate next to the Olympic Park.

The group, Focus E15 Mothers, are protesting over the lack of affordable housing in London, highlighting that the Carpenters Estate they have occupied is almost completely empty.

Newham Council claim that the housing estate is too expensive to renovate and has been earmarked for redevelopment.

The occupation began on Sunday and the group say they will stay for at least one week.
