World Boxing Champion To Become Honorary Freeman Of Nottingham
Carl Froch, world boxing champion, is to become an honorary freeman of Nottingham.
The 37-year-old beat George Groves at Wembley Stadion for the world title in May. He grew up in Gedling, near Nottingham.
He said it was a "very proud moment" for him and his family, and joked that the honour would allow him to take sheep over Trent Bridge.
Hillwalker Dies In Almost 500ft Fall
A 63-year-old hillwalker has died in a fall on Aonach Eagach ridge near Glencoe.
Lisa MacDermind fell almost 492ft from the ridge at about 13:30 on Saturday, Police Scotland have said.
Ms MacDonald was from Crieff.
Scratch And Sniff Cards To Help Public Identify Cannabis Grow Houses
Police in Northern Ireland are to provide the public with 'scratch and sniff' cards to help them spot the signs of cannabis grow houses.
The cards contain information on what to look out to identify possible drug factories, and include a section that can be scratched off to reveal the smell of the cannabis plant in its growing stage.

A recently launched special edition National Lottery scratch card has helped to raise almost £2 million towards funding the 2012 Olympic Games in London, it has been announced. Lottery operators Camelot said the ‘Go For Gold’ scratch card was recording sales of over £1 million weekly.

UK Economy Grew In Q3
The UK economy grew by 0.8% in the third quarter of 2013, according to the Office for National Statistics. GDP has now risen by 1.8% during the latest three quarters, indicating conditions similar to the expansion between Q3 2009 and Q2 2010 as the UK began to recover from the economic downturn.

UK Inflation Rate Drops To 1.5% In May
The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) grew by 1.5% in the year to May 2014, down from 1.8% in April, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS). Falls in transport services costs, notably air fares, provided the largest contribution to the decrease in the rate.

Cigarette Fraudster Jailed
A convicted cigarette fraudster from Co Tyrone in Northern Ireland has been jailed for three years for failing to pay a £500,000 confiscation order. Aiden Francis Grew (55) from Benburb Street in Blackwatertown had pleaded guilty in 2008 to evading duty on almost five million cigarettes.
