Historic Building Damaged By Fire

A Grade-II listed building in City Square, Leeds, has been left badly damaged following a fire.

The blaze broke out at the premises at around 7.20pm on Tuesday.

The venue, which was home to the former Majestyk Nightclub, was empty at the time.

At the height of the blaze, 10 fire engines and 75 firefighters were on the scene. Three aerial appliances were also used to douse the flames.

The dome roof of the building is said to have been damaged, making the site unsafe for crews to enter.

Crews remain at the site this morning.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
