Men Arrested After Stolen Car Collides With Police Vehicle

Two men have been arrested after a stolen car collided with a police vehicle in L'Derry.

The men have been detained in connection with the theft of a vehicle, as well as with a burglary in the Ivy Mead area of the Waterside on Thursday morning.

The men are assisting police with their enquiries at Strand Road station.

Three PSNI officers were injured in the collision, which occurred on the Benview Road.

Pedestrian Hit By Bus In Falls Road

A man has been hit by a bus on the Falls Road in west Belfast.

Police said the man has been taken to hospital and the road was closed for a while at City Cemetery following the incident. It has since re-opened.

Farmer Convicted At Strabane Court

A farmer has been convicted of offences at Strabane Magistrates Court.

Mr Richard Black, Moorlough Road, Artigarvan, Strabane, Co Tyrone, was convicted of one charge of failing to notify the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the movement of 32 bovine animals off his holding.

He also faced one charge of failing to keep a Herd Register and one of failing to produce a Veterinary Medicine Record in accordance with the Regulations.

Mr Black pleaded guilty and was fined £450 plus £40 costs and £15 offenders levy.

Second Phase Of Connswater Development Underway

The second phase of the £40m Connswater Community Greenway has got underway after Belfast Lord Mayor Nichola Mallon announced Farrans as the main contractor.

The announcement was made at a celebration event in Holywood Arches attended by Belfast City Council, East Belfast Partnership, the Big Lottery Fund, Department of Social Development and the Department of Agriculture and Regional Development Rivers Agency.

Phase 2 of the Community Greenway will see the construction of the remaining 13kms of walking and cycling paths to both Cregagh Glen and the Braniel, a C.S. Lewis-themed civic square at Holywood Arches, improvements to rivers and new flood defences, new and improved bridges and crossings and new play areas at Avoniel and Loop River Parks.

Road Closed In North Belfast Following Collision
The Ligoniel Road in north Belfast has closed following a one-vehicle collision. The road has been closed in both directions near the Wolfhill Road, according to the police. Diversions have been put in place and motorists are being advised to avoid the area. No other details have been released.

Investigation Launched After Man Found Dead In North Belfast
Police have launched an investigation after a man was found dead at a property in north Belfast. A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drugs offences after the discovery in the Antrim Road area on Tuesday, 24 January. He has been released on bail pending further inquiries. A post-mortem will be carried out to determine the cause of death.
