Two Bailed In Syria Related Terrorism Investigation

Two people arrested on Tuesday by police investigating suspected terrorism offences have been released on bail.

They were among six people arrested in an investigation related to the conflict in Syria, police said. Two men and two women continue to be held.

The man, aged 57, and woman, aged 48, have been bailed to appear again in December.

UKIP Candidate Removed Over Animal Welfare Charges

A UKIP candidate in one of the party's "target seats" has been removed after admitting six animal welfare charges.

David Evans, 71, a farmer from Cornwall, admitted six separate charges, including one of keeping emaciated sheep.

He had been due to contest Camborne and Redruth, held by Conservative George Eustice with a majority of only 66 votes over the Liberal Democrats, in the next General Election.

Former Lib Dem Asked To Repay Cost Of Investigation

Former Liberal Democrat MP Mike Hancock has been asked to repay the costs of a council investigation into his conduct.

Mr Hancock resigned from the party following an investigation into an alleged "inappropriate friendship" with a vulnerable female constituent.

It is understood that Mr Hancock has said he will not repay.

Unlicensed Minicab Driver Jailed For Killing Passenger
An unlicensed minicab driver has been jailed for eight years for causing the death of a passenger. Matab Uddin, 59, of Blackshots Lane, Essex was found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving and fraud. The court heard how police were called on Sunday, 17 November 2013 at about 1:45am to reports of a man injured on Essex Road.

Shoreham Air Crash Inquests Begin
Inquests into the deaths of 11 people killed in the Shoreham Airshow crash last month are to begin. A total of 11 people were killed on 22 August when a vintage Hawker Hunter jet crashed into traffic on the A27 in Shoreham. The jet was performing as part of the nearby airshow.

Investigation Launched After Death Of Woman Following Bus Fall
A woman has died in hospital after falling on a route E3 bus on Chiswick High Road, just after 13:30 on Tuesday, 18 August. The 77-year-old woman was taken to hospital by ambulance, where she was pronounced dead shortly before 17:00.

Driver Urged To Come Forward In Norwich Hit-And-Run Investigation
Police have appealed for the driver of a light-coloured Nissan thought to have been involved in a suspected hit-and-run in Oldbury last week. Police have issued the appeal following the death of Anthony Maskell (50).
