Man Assaulted In Holywood Robbery

A number of masked men have entered a house in Holywood, County Down and assaulted and robbed a male occupant.

Detectives in Bangor are investigating the report of an aggravated burglary at a house in the Firmount Crescent area yesterday evening.

The incident occurred at about 20:00 on 15 October.

The occupant has been taken to hospital for serious injuries to his hands.

Anyone who has any information about this incident should contact detectives in Bangor on 101. Information can also be passed anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Vehicle Hijacking, West Belfast

A vehicle hijacking has been reported in the Milford Place area of west Belfast in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Just before 01:30, it was reported that a pizza delivery vehicle believed to be a silver Mazda 5 was making a delivery in the area.

It is believed two males armed with knives then approached the vehicle and threatened the driver. The man was not injured but left badly shaken. The men drove off from the scene towards the Springfield Road area.

Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact CID in Woodbourne Police Station on the non-emergency number 101. The independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Police Uncover £750k Cannabis, Portadown

Two men have been arrested after police uncovered some £750,000 worth of cannabis in a raid at a house in the Church Street area of Portadown, County Armagh, on Wednesday.

The site was found after a police patrol in the area noticed a smell of cannabis.

Officers initially believed the cannabis was worth £500,000, but the figure is now thought to be in the region of £750,000 to £1m.

A number of plants, cultivation equipment and associated items have been removed for further examination.

Two men were arrested, aged 36 and 21, and are currently assisting with enquiries.

Jobs Fair Comes To Belfast

A jobs fair has been announced for Belfast's Europa Hotel on Tuesday 21 October 2014, from 10:00 to 17:00.

The event has been organised by the Department for Employment and Learning.

Over 50 employers, including Almac, Santander, Citi, Concentrix, Norbrook Laboratories and the Wright Group, offering 1,500 vacancies, are expected to be in attendance at the event.

A number of employers, including BT and FirstSource will be conducting initial interviews on the day for positions with their businesses. Advice and guidance will also be available on a range of training and re-skilling opportunities.

Support organisations in attendance will include the Prince’s Trust, Include Youth, Belfast Met and DEL’s Disablement Employment Service.

Six Arrested In Dissident Investigation
Six people have been arrested by detectives investigating dissident republican activity. The arrests were made on Tuesday in the Dunmurry and west Belfast area following a number of searches. Police said five men, aged between 31 and 58, and a 32-year-old woman had been arrested.

PSNI Appeal For Help Tracing Missing Belfast Man
The PSNI have issued an appeal for help in tracing the whereabouts of 31-year-old Conor Bradley. Conor was last seen on Saturday, 29 January. He is described as 6'6", of slim build with ginger hair. He is believed to be in the Belfast area, according to police. Anyone with any information about Conor or his whereabouts is urged to contact police.

Police Appeal After 'Shot Fired' In North Belfast
Police have launched an investigation after reports of a shot being fired in north Belfast. No-one is believed to have been injured in the incident in the Farringdon Court area on Thursday. Police are keen to establish what happened and are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.
