Body Parts Found On Foulness Island
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after body parts were found washed up on Foulness Island in Essex.
On Wednesday, Essex Police confirmed they had launched a murder inquiry into the death of 33-year-old Angela Millington who was from Southend.
The last definitive sighting of Ms Millington, who was said to be homeless, was in November 2013.
Her remains were discovered on Foulness Island in June by a group of ramblers, but have only been recently identified through DNA tests.
Police have now confirmed that a man, 51, from Westcliff-on-Sea, is currently being questioned by detectives.
In a statement, Detective Chief Inspector Simon Werrett said some of Ms Millington's remains were found on part of Foulness Island known as New Burwood Head.
He added: "The expert reports indicate that she has not died on Foulness but has either been deposited here or the body was carried here in the tide.
“We have launched a murder investigation as we don't know what happened to Angela. We are keeping all lines of enquiry open. Anyone with any information, no matter how small, could help us to discover how Angela died and bring her justice."
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.
