Prolonged Absence For Ulster's Chris Henry

Ulster Rugby player Chris Henry is facing a lengthy absence from the game after it was revealed he suffered a blocked blood vessel in his brain.

The 30-year-old was named as part of the Ireland team due to face South Africa in Dublin on 8th November, but hours before the match, he was omitted from the team.

At the time, it was said the back-rower was taken to hospital with a viral illness. He made a quick recovery and the initial diagnosis was a "severe migraine". However, on Monday, the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) confirmed the extent of Henry's condition.

They said that further tests were carried out, and it was discovered he had suffered a temporary blockage of a small blood vessel in his brain.

The IRFU added that Henry is "well" and now recuperating at home, but further investigation and specialist opinion is needed.

Despite a lengthy period of time off to recover, both Ulster and Ireland Rugby officials are confident he will be able to resume his rugby career.
