Burglary At House In Hillsborough

Police have appealed for information following a suspected burglary at a property in Hillsborough.

Shortly before 9.45pm on Tuesday (25 November), a man is said to have entered the home in the Millvale Road area. The home belonged to an elderly man. It is understood the occupant remained in the living room, while the male searched through the rooms of the house.

Nothing is thought to have been taken at this stage.

The elderly man was not injured.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information is asked to contact police.

Another Woman Targeted In Carjacking

A woman has been targeted in an attempted carjacking in west Belfast.

The incident happened in the Townsend Street area of the city at around 8.15am this morning (26 November).

The victim, who is said to work for homeless charity The Welcome Organisation, was getting out of her car when a man tried to snatch her car keys.

She was able to get her keys back, but the man then stole her bag.

On Facebook, the charity posted an appeal for the return of the bag, which is light pink in colour, and its possessions.

The man is described as being approximately 5ft 7ins tall with short brown hair.

He was wearing a black coat, navy trousers and trainers.

Minister Welcomes New Flight Route

Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has welcomed the announcement that Flybe are to launch a new daily service from Belfast City Airport to Liverpool.

The route will come into operation in February 2015, with up to three flights offered daily.

Minister Kennedy said: "This is further good news for Belfast City airport and follows the recent launches of new services to London City and Barcelona.

"Today's challenging economic situation makes it even more essential to establish accessible and strong links to key markets in the rest of the UK and Europe.

"These new routes will enable local business people to commute more conveniently and frequently across Europe and ensures that Northern Ireland is in a prime position to attract inward investment."
