PD James Dies Aged 94
Crime writer PD James has died at the age of 94.
The news was confirmed by her agent.
It is understood she passed away "peacefully at her home in Oxford".
PD James is the author of more than 20 books, many of which have been adapted for television and film. One of her most famous titles is 'Death Comes To Pemberley' – a spin-off of Jane Austen's 'Pride and Prejudice'.
Born on 3 August 1920, Phyllis Dorothy James published her first novel at the age of 42. In 1987, she was awarded the Crime Writers' Association's Diamond Dagger award for lifetime achievement, and in 2005, received the Medal of Honour for Literature by the National Arts Club.

An American teenager has been given a life sentence for the murder of two British tourists while in Florida. 25-year-old James Cooper and 24-year-old James Kouzaris, friends from university in Sheffield, were shot and killed in Sarasota, Florida, after drunkenly wandering into the Newtown area in the early hours of 16 April 2011.

Barclays Fined £26m Over Gold Price Fixing
Barclays Bank has been fined over £26m by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) after an employee was discovered attempting to manipulate the price of gold. The FCA said the bank failed to adequately manage conflicts of interest between itself and customers between 2004 and 2013.

The Banking Standards Commission has said financial regulators should consider banning three top HBOS bankers from future roles in the financial sector. The Parliamentary Commission on Banking Standards said former chairman Lord Stevenson, as well as past Chief Executives Sir James Crosby and Andy Hornby, were to blame for the collapse of the bank.
