Casino Lobbies Council For Larger Venture

UK casino operator, the Rank Group, has held talks with city Councillors over proposals for a larger venue if they are allowed to open in Belfast.

The group is currently lobbying the council for a change to the law in Northern Ireland that would allow them to open a new casino in the city.

It is claimed the venture could create up to 400 new jobs.

The Rank Group first proposed an £18m venture in September.

The council has not yet held a vote on the issue, but it is understood that Social Development Minister Mervyn Storey is opposed to the move.
