Govt To Announce Local Council Funding For 2015-16
The government is due to announce later today council funding grants for 2015-16.
Councils have previously been warned that they will be facing average cuts of 1.8%, with the Local Government Association warning that services would "buckle under the strain".
However, ministers have claimed that public satisfaction with council services has increased since 2010.
The provisional funding grants will be presented to MPS by Local Government Minister Kris Hopkins, and will then seek the approval of Parliament.

Over 5,000 Council Trade Workers Strike Over Pay
Over 5,000 council trade workers are to hold a one-day strike, which could be repeated every two weeks until an agreement is reached in a row over pay. Trade workers such as plasterers and electricians for councils including Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and Fife are said to be unhappy about being forced to work longer hours than council colleagues.
