Temporary Shelter Removed By Council
An emergency sleeping shelter installed in the city centre has been removed by Belfast City Council.
The box appeared on open ground in Victoria Street at the weekend, offering a temporary shelter for a homeless person, complete with a solar powered phone charger and radio.
Belfast City Council have now removed the wooden box, stating that it had been placed "without permission" and was not in a fixed position.
The council added there were concerns that the box could be set alight.
It is not known who made the box or placed it in the city. A plaque on the box itself gives an email address for Common Law NI, but the group has previously said that it was not responsible for the shelter, it had only agreed for its email address to be included.
