ONS Figures Show Economy Growth

New figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) have revealed that the UK economy grew by 2.6% in 2014, the largest growth in seven years.

Despite the overall growth the ONS figures also show that growth slowed slightly in the final quarter of the year, with the last three months of 2014 closing on 0.5% growth, compared to 0.7% in the three months previous.

ONS Figures Show Growth In UK Economy
New figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) have shown that the UK economy grew by 1.9% in 2013, despite gross domestic product falling by 0.1%, finishing the final quarter at 0.7%. Chancellor George Osborne has said that the numbers are a boost to economic security and further evidence that the governments economic plan is working.

UK Unemployment Drops In Three Months To February
Unemployment in the UK has fallen by 76,000 in the three months to February, down 1.3% on the same period in 2014, new figures from the Office for National Statistics(ONS) have revealed. UK unemployment now stands at 1.84 million, or 5.6%, which the ONS said is in line with forecasts.

UK Population Grows By Almost Half A Million - ONS
New figures from the Office for National Statistics(ONS) have revealed that the population of the UK grew to a total of 64,596,800, up by almost half a million. The ONS said the population rose by 491,100 from mid-2013 to mid-2014, a growth it described as "above average". Net migration of 259,700 added to the population growth, the ONS said.

0.8% Growth For UK Economy
The UK economy has grown by 0.8% in the first quarter of 2014, official figures have claimed. This is the fifth consecutive increase in GDP growth. However, the Office for National Statistics (ONS), which published the findings, said the economy remains 0.6% smaller than its peak of 2008.

ONS Figures Show Further Fall In UK Unemployment
New figures from the Office for National Statistics have shown that the UK's unemployment rate has fallen to 2.32 million, a decrease of 167,000 in the three months to November. The unemployment rate currently stands at 7.1%. The number of people claiming Jobseeker's Allowance also dropped to 1.
