Police Investigate Armed Robbery In Co Antrim

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a convenience store in Crumlin, Co Antrim.

It is understood a man, believed to have been armed, entered the shop on Main Street at about 23:00 on Tuesday.

The man demanded money and cigarettes from staff.

PSNI Detective Inspector David Skelly said: "I would appeal to anyone with any information about this incident to contact CID at Antrim Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.

"Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."

The man is described as being in his mid to late 20s and was wearing a dark coloured hooded top.

Man questioned about 1988 murder
A man has been arrested in connection with police inquiries into a murder in 1988. The body of Lily Smyth, 66, was found in her flat at Moveen House in Dunmurry on October 9, 1988. The pensioner had been strangled. A police spokesperson said that a 43-year-old man had been arrested and is being questioned at Antrim Police Station.

A shop owner has been beaten during an armed robbery in Co Antrim last night. At around 7.55pm two masked men, one armed with a handgun, entered the premises on the Queens Road in Antrim town.

Police Appeal Over Attempted Armed Robbery In Ballymena
Police are appealing for information following an attempted armed robbery at a shop in Ballymena, Co Antrim. The incident occurred at a shop in the Larne Road area just after 7.40pm on Wednesday. A masked man armed with a knife demanded a staff member to open the till. However, the employee threw water over him and he made off empty handed.
