Tesco Announce 43 Store Closures
Tesco is to close 43 of its stores across the UK, with the loss of up to 2,000 jobs.
The announcement follows a warning issued by the supermarket giant last month that it was considering store closures in an effort to save money.
According to reports, 18 Express and six Homeplus stores will close on 15 March, followed by 12 Tesco Metro and seven Superstores on 4 April.
The supermarket has not confirmed where the store closures will be as not all staff have been informed.
Announcing the closures, Tesco chief executive Dave Lewis said the decision had been "exceptionally difficult".
"Our priority is to explain what this announcement means for our colleagues and, wherever possible, offer them alternative roles with Tesco," he added.

Severed Deer Head Left At Supermarket Self-Service Till
An investigation has begun after a deer's severed head was left at a self-service checkout in a Tesco store in Essex, police have said. The innards of the animal were also left in an isle of the supermarket on Radwinter Road in Saffron Walden. The incident occurred on 04 June at around 01:20 in the morning.

Tesco Pledge To Move Meat Production 'Closer To Home'
Supermarket chain Tesco has vowed to work more closely with British farmers, promising to bring meat production “closer to home”. The move comes in response to the ongoing horsemeat scandal. Having already introduced a new testing process, the store has also said that from July all chicken sold in its UK stores will be from British farms.

Tesco reports profits rise
Britain’s leading supermarket group, Tesco, has reported an 18.7% rise in profits in their first-half sales figures. The supermarket giant saw pre-tax profits rise to £908 million for the 24 weeks to August 13, beating average forecasts of £886 million. The group also reported a rise in sales of 14.1% to £18.
