Murray Reaches Fourth Australian Open Final

Andrew Murray has made the finals of the Australian Open.

After losing the first set, the British number one, beat Berdych 6-7 6-0 6-3 7-5 to reach his fourth final in the competition.

The 27-year-old will face the winner of Novak Djokovic and Stan Wawrinka, who play on Friday.

BBC Secures New Premier League Deal

A new three year contract to show Premier League highlights has been agreed by the BBC.

The new contract secures the broadcaster's Match of the Day program, which has been on air for 50 years, along with its repeat program MOTD2, Football Focus and a new midweek sports show to be shown on BBT Two and BBC Two HD.

Fire Engine Crashes On Way To Crash Site

Suffolk Police have reported a fire engine on its way to a road accident crashed and overturned at Onehouse near Stowmarket.

The incident happened at about 09:00 on Thursday and it is believed that black ice may have cause the engine to crash.

Police said the one member of the fire crew was knock unconscious in the crash and was treated in hospital, his condition is not serious.

Heroic Tyne Firemen Honoured
Two Tyne and Wear firefighters are to be recognised for their bravery at a special ceremony today. Andrew Nelson and Allan Richardson will be presented with the Chief Fire Officer's Commendations for brave and meritorious conduct after saving a man's life. The men took part in a dramatic rescue in the early hours of 4 February.

Firefighters launch four-day strike
More than 1,000 firefighters across Merseyside have begun a four-day strike in protest over planned job cuts. Another four-day stoppage is scheduled to begin two hours after the first one ends.

Station And Fire Engine Destroyed In Fire
Fire has destroyed a Norfolk fire station and fire engine in an overnight blaze. The fire was reported by a passing police patrol in Downham Market, Norfolk, just after midnight. It is understood that the fire started in a bay where the stations engine was stored.

BBC Website To Offer 'Open House'
Newspapers could be facing an online revolution as the BBC is planning to open up its website on www.bbc.co.uk to other news organisation. The broadcaster's online news section may soon allow its own (free) users to see the major stories covered by the UK newspaper sites.
