Real IRA plant bomb inside army base
Dissident republicans have admitted responsibility for planting a bomb inside an army base in Co Londonderry.
The Real IRA said it was behind the device which was attached to a refuse bin inside Shackelton Barracks. The group said it had planted the bomb after cutting through a perimeter fence.
A controlled explosion was carried out on the device which was discovered at around 9am on Wednesday.
Police have appealed for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area to contact them.

Appeal Following Petrol Bomb Attack In Banbridge
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following a petrol bomb attack in Banbridge, in the early hours of Tuesday 19th March. It was reported that at around 2.10am on Tuesday morning, two petrol bombs were thrown at the back wall of a house in the Castlewellan Road area, causing scorch damage to the wall and a window frame.

Homes evacuated following pipe bomb alert
West Belfast was the scene of a security alert last night after two pipe bombs were found. Around 60 homes in the St James' Avenue area had to be evacuated as army bomb experts dealt with the devices. The two bombs were eventually made safe and taken away for examination.

Omagh Bombing Memorial Service Held
A memorial service has been held to mark the upcoming 20th anniversary of the Omagh bombing. The names of the 29 people killed in the attack in August, 1998, were read one by one as wreaths were laid at the memorial gardens in the Co Tyrone town.

Investigation Launched Into Petrol Bomb Attack In Ballymena
PSNI detectives have issued an appeal for information and witnesses following a report of a petrol bomb incident in the Queen Street area of Ballymena. Shortly before 10.15pm on Monday, March 4, it was reported that two petrol bombs were thrown through the living room window of a house in the area. Neither of the petrol bombs ignited.
