Girls Aloud to play Belfast St Patrick's Day gig
Derry-born Nadine Coyle and her chart topping band Girls Aloud are set to perform at this year's St Patrick's Day concert in Belfast.
The band, whose debut single 'Sound of the Underground' reached number 1 in the UK charts, will headline the 17 March concert in the grounds of Belfast City Hall.
The chairperson of the St Patrick's Day Carnival Committee, Irene Sherry, said she was delighted to have attracted a major pop act to the city for the day.
"The carnival committee have proved its commitment once again to bringing top-class entertainment to Belfast city centre for a proper celebration of St Patrick's Day," she said.
"Girls Aloud and the other acts on our programme will attract tens of thousands of people into Belfast city centre for St Patrick's Day."
Girls Aloud was formed in 2002 following success in the reality TV show Popstars The Rivals. They recently had a hit with the song 'Jump' from the soundtrack of the Hugh Grant movie, 'Love Actually'.

Heavy Snow Closes Over 80 Schools
Over 80 schools across Northern Ireland have been closed as the heavy snow continues to cause disruption on Tuesday morning. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, as the snow is continuing to affect many roads. Areas which have been majorly disrupted include Lisburn, Castlereagh and Carryduff.
