Man shot dead by armed robbers in Birmingham

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 28-year-old man was shot dead by armed robbers in Birmingham last night.

At around 11.30pm, an armed robbery took place at the Nationwide building society on High St, Birmingham city centre. The robbers confronted security guards and made off with an undisclosed quantity of cash

Police have confirmed that immediately following the robbery a shot was fired in nearby Worcester Walk and a man received a fatal injury from which he later died in hospital.

The man has not yet been identified but it is thought he is a 28-year-old from Walsall. It is not known whether he had any connection with the robbery or was merely in the vicinity.

Police are treating this incident as murder and are appealing to anyone with information to ring 0845 113 5000.

Mr Baker had been staying at his sister's house on Hillaries Road, Erdington when he went missing. A man has been arrested at Birmingham Airport on suspicion of engaging in terrorism in Syria. Officers from the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit detained the 37-year-old man at 15:00 on Thursday. He had arrived on a flight from Istanbul.

British Man Dies In Dubai Police Custody
A British man has died in police custody in Dubai. Lee Bradley Brown, 39, from east London, died on Tuesday after he was taken to a Dubai police station where he was allegedly assaulted and put into a cell. It has been reported that Mr Brown, was arrested over a row at the luxury hotel Burj Al Arab hotel.
