Home of Policing Board chairman attacked

The home of Policing Board deputy chairman, Denis Bradley has been attacked by petrol bombers.

The incident occurred at Mr Bradley's home in the Templemore Park area of Londonderry at around 8.30pm on Thursday.

Mr Bradley, who was not home at the time, said he would not be intimidated by those behind the attack.

His wife and 15-year-old son were uninjured during the incident but treated for shock.

Minor scorch damage was caused to the front wall of the house by one of the devices while another failed to explode.

Condemning the incident, Security Minister Jane Kennedy said: "This is a calculated and cowardly attack on the home of Denis Bradley and his family.

"Denis, and many others across Northern Ireland, are following their strong sense of civic duty to hold policing to account in their local communities through the work of the Policing Board and in District Policing Partnerships. They deserve the support of all decent people in Northern Ireland."

Last night's attack was the second on Mr Bradley's home. Last September he received a death threat by dissident republicans who are opposed to his role within the Policing Board.
