Last call for budding entrepreneur nominations
The deadline is looming for this year’s crop of Northern Ireland’s brightest young sparks to prove their worth in Shell LiveWIRE’s annual ‘Young Entrepreneur of the Year’ Awards.
The competition, which is the longest running and one of the most prestigious awards events in the province, aims to promote enterprise and entrepreneurship to young people aged 16-30. Entries, in the form of a business plan, must be received by 26th March.
Commenting on this year's competition, Gerry Ford, CEO of Livewire said: "This is a celebration of the entrepreneurial spirit that we know is alive and well in Northern Ireland’s young people. I would encourage anyone under 31 who has been running a business between 3 and 18 months to showcase their efforts and contact us for details.
Whilst all eight finalists can expect to receive a substantial awards package, Rossa Dumigan, last year’s winner, drove off in a fully expensed executive car with £2000 cash, Shell petrol for a year, loads of publicity and the coveted title of ‘Young Entrepreneur of the Year’.
Rossa said: "It was a real blast. The event itself was a great occasion and the prize money and car were such a help to me at an early stage in my business. The publicity I got on the back of the awards opened all manner of doors."
This year's final takes place at Belfast’s Waterfront Hall on May 27thth.

22-Year-Old Man Jailed For Rape At Laganside Crown Court
A 22-year-old man has been sentenced to six years for rape at Laganside Crown Court. Ahmad Alsbaihi was sentenced to six years. He will serve three years in custody and three years on licence. He will be placed on the Sex Offenders Register and will be subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) for 10 years.

15-Year-Old Arrested Following Stabbing In Lisburn
A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of a 14-year-old in the Knockmore Road area of Lisburn last night, Monday 25th March. Police have said that at approximately 7.40pm on Monday 25 March, a 14-year-old boy had been approached by a group of teenagers, before being stabbed in the lower back.

25-Year-Old Charged With Murder Of Bobbie McKee
A 25-year-old man has been charged in connection with the murder of Bobbie McKee in Kilkeel. Mr McKee (69) died shortly after being found seriously injured at his home in the Newcastle Road area on Thursday 21 March. The man has also been charged with the attempted murder of Mr McKee's wife, who remains in a serious condition in hospital.
