Release date set for Jonathan King
|
|
Pop producer Jonathan King will be released from prison on parole at the end of the month.
Mr King, 60, who was jailed for seven years in November 2001 for a series of sex offences against teenage boys, will be released from HMP Maidstone on March 29.
His solicitor, Giovanni di Stefano, said that the Parole Board had decided that Mr King was "suitable for early release on licence". Mr di Stefano said that Mr King would be freed from prison at 8:30am on March 29, not the 28th, because it was Easter Monday.
Mr di Stefano said last month that Mr King hoped to have his conviction quashed. He has always denied that he was guilty of the charges.
It has been reported that Mr King is hoping to revive his musical career.
A newspaper report claimed that Mr King's victims had been told that because he had never admitted guilt, he would not be granted early parole.
It has been reported that his parole conditions will include staying at a particular address and not receiving visits from under-eighteens without permission as well as a total ban on working with children.
