Three terror suspects still being questioned

Police are still questioning three people arrested in Coventry earlier this week in conjunction with an international terrorism investigation.

Detectives have been granted an extension to further question the trio who were arrested on Tuesday. Police will now be able to hold the suspects until Saturday, when they will have to be charged or released or the police will have to apply for another extension. Police are allowed to question the suspects for a maximum of 14 days.

The two men, aged 30 and 29, and a 41-year-old woman were arrested in the Holbrook and Great Heath areas, by officers from Scotland Yard and the West Midlands Police.

It has been reported that the three suspects are of Asian origin, but it is not known whether or not they are British nationals at present.

Police have also conducted searches at five premises in Coventry as part of the investigation.

The trio are being held at a police station in central London, under the provisions of the Terrorism Act 2000.
