Security guard threatened in armed robbery

Detectives are appealing for information following an armed robbery outside a bank in Crumlin, Co Antrim on Monday.

At around 2.30pm a man, armed with a gun, approached a security guard as he was making a delivery to a bank at Main Street. The robber pointed the gun and demanded the cashbox before he fled in a waiting green or blue coloured saloon car. It’s understood the car headed off in the direction of the town’s clock tower.

The robber is described as being around 5’6” tall, well built with a light blue top and baseball cap.

Elsewhere on Monday, a woman was dragged from her 4x4 vehicle by hijackers in Co Down.

The incident occurred as the woman drove along the Knock Road in Katesbridge at about 10.30pm.

Police have appealed for anyone with information on either incident to contact them on 028 9065 0222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
