Attack on car may have been racially motivated

Two youths are being questioned by police after a car was vandalised in a suspected racist attack in Armagh.

The damaged vehicle was discovered by its owner, who is understood to be of Chinese origin, in Mullacreevie Park at around 12.20am on Thursday.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them on 028 9065 0222 or Crimestoppers on 0800555111.

Thursday’s incident is one of the latest attacks in Northern Ireland that have been linked to a racial motive.

Earlier this week, a man was assaulted in a racist attack in south Belfast.

The victim, an asian man, was treated for cuts to his head and eye, a mouth injury and bruising to his body after three men entered his home in Donegall Avenue and assaulted him.

SDLP assembly member Carmel Hanna said the attack as "despicable".
