Camerons' third child born |
|
Conservative leader David Cameron became a father for the third time today.
Samantha Cameron, 34, gave birth by caesarean section to a baby boy weighing 7lb 13oz at 11.55pm, and mother and child are said to be doing well.
The Camerons have a boy, Ivan aged 3 and a girl Nancy aged 2.
Mr Cameron was attending a meeting of the shadow cabinet this morning when he received a call telling him that his wife was on the way to St Mary's Hospital in London.
The leader of the Conservative since December, Mr Cameron, 39, said that he intended to take two weeks paternity leave. One week immediately and another later on.
Former Tory leader William Hague, the shadow foreign secretary, is expected to stand in for Mr Cameron at this week's Prime Minister's question time, before he attends an engagement in Washington.
David Cameron married Samantha in 1996. She is a director of stationery firm Smythson of Bond Street.
