'Eastenders' star dies from brain tumour |
|
Former 'Eastenders' star Ross Davidson has died from a tumour at the age of 57.
Davidson was one of the original cast members of the BBC soap, playing nurse Andy O'Brien.
The Scottish actor was diagnosed with a brain tumour in February 2005.
He married his wife Barbara three months after the diagnosis.
Davidson's agent, Keith Bishop, confirmed that the actor had died at his home in Frinton-on-Sea in Essex on Monday morning.
He told reporters that Davidson had undergone surgery three times and had "searched the country for a cure and fought a brave fight".
Aside from his role in 'Eastenders', Davidson also had roles in 'Take The High Road', and 'Hollyoaks'.
The actor made history by being the first main character in 'Eastenders' to be killed off - his character was killed by a lorry as he saved a child from being knocked over.
He also famously dated his co-star Shirley Cheriton, who played his on-screen girlfriend Debbie Wilkins.
Davidson had one son, Drew, aged eight. His wife, Barbara, had three children.
