Policing Board supports ‘Day of Private Reflection’

Members of the Northern Ireland Policing Board have given their support to the Healing Through Remembering (HTR) Day of Private Reflection – which will be held tomorrow.

The Day of Reflection is being planned to help people make a commitment to a peaceful future, while also acknowledge the deep hurt and loss caused by the conflict.

HTR have invited people across Northern Ireland, Great Britain, the Republic of Ireland and further afield to take part in the day.

Speaking about the Board’s support, Chairman Professor Sir Desmond Rea said: “The Board is pleased to lend its support to this day of personal, private and individual reflection.

“Northern Ireland has had a difficult and troubled past and there is much hurt within our communities.”

He continued: “Whilst we are moving forward with new hope we should not forget the journey that we have travelled to this date; and this event provides an important forum for people to do this in a private way.”
