PSNI Funds Switch Lisburn CCTV Back On
After the big 'switch off' Lisburn is now to have the big CCTV 'switch on' again.
Police said yesterday they were contributing cash to have CCTV in the area switched back on.
It was announced this week that a shortfall in funding meant the plug was pulled on camera systems in Lisburn, Moira, Hillsborough and Dunmurry.
But a PSNI spokesman said: "We hope that with this significant new contribution the cameras can be operational once again in the near future."
The network is operated by the local business community in Lisburn with the help of the Lisburn City Council and the PSNI.

The Chairman of Lisburn City Centre Management, the MLA Edwin Poots, had called on the PSNI to come up with a solution as quickly as possible - and it looks like it has paid off.
Speaking earlier this week he said: "It has been deeply disappointing, that in spite of being fully aware of the situation, the PSNI has procrastinated and failed to step up to the mark in achieving a solution.
"If a solution is to be found and CCTV is to continue, the ball is very clearly in the court of the PSNI to come forward with solutions that are deliverable."
Today's news means that Lisburn's police commander Chief Inspector Davy Moore has been as good as his word.
He said on Wednesday that "no stone had been left unturned, trying to find additional sources of revenue".

HMRC Announce Automatic Child Benefit Increase
Millions of families who claim Child Benefit will automatically receive increased payments from 6 April 2024, HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has confirmed. Families with one child will now receive up to £1,331 a year – an annual increase of £83.20, and up to £881 a year per additional child – an annual increase of £54.60.
