Market Slowdown Saves 'Celeb' Haunt

A Belfast bar, which only narrowly survived the crash of the demolition ball, has become the city's latest 'celebrity' haunt.

Weekend revellers at The Rotterdam Bar included Coleraine-born actor James Nesbitt (pictured and Harry Potter star Rupert Grint.

The men, in Belfast filming a drama entitled Cherrybomb, joined partygoers celebrating the bar's reprieve from bulldozers.

Emmy-nominated Cranford actress Kimberley Nixon was also mixing with locals at the Pilot Street bar.

The site has been saved from demolition - for the time being - due to the sudden slow down in the Northern Ireland property market.

Plans for a housing development have been halted, a project which would have resulted in the bar being flattened.

Events Manager at The Rotterdam welcomed the weekend guests, Steve Batt said: "There is no doubt about it The Rotterdam is back in business and we could not be happier.

"We were absolutely packed on Saturday night and everyone was saying that it was fabulous that we are back in business," he added.
