Stab Victim Named

The man who died in a stabbing incident in Co Antrim at the weekend has been named. He was 30-year-old Kevin Doyle from the Twinbrook area whose death is now being treated as murder by the PSNI. They said he was who was found stabbed in the early hours of Saturday morning. He was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital, where he later died. A 25-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the case.

City On Screen

Belfast is to play host to a major movie premiere next month as 'City Of Ember' is set to premiere at the Movie House cinema Dublin Road on October 9. The event, which is organised by Cinemagic and Northern Ireland Screen, is due to be attended by several cast members. 'City Of Ember', which is based on the 2003 novel by Jeanne Duprau about the race to save an underground city from flooding, stars Bill Murray, Martin Landau, Tim Robbins and Saoirse Ronan and was filmed mainly on location in Belfast.

Baby Critical

A seven-month old baby girl from the same estate in Antrim where another child died in a house fire at the weekend was last night is in a critical condition in hospital after an accident. The baby was rushed to Antrim Area hospital on Sunday morning from a house at Islay Street on the Springfarm estate then later transferred to the Royal Belfast hospital for sick children.

The Train Now Standing.....

Northern Ireland Railways has apologised for any inconvenience to passengers after part of the platform at Whitehead Railway Station in Co Antrim collapsed. The firm said the Larne-bound platform would remain closed and trains would operate from the Belfast-bound platform. Larne trains face delays. A spokesperson said that the collapse of a section followed recent construction work in the area. They said that no-one was injured in the incident.

Animal Farm

Dozens of rotted animal carcases have been discovered at a Co Down open farm. The USPCA returned to the site at Loughbrickland on Sunday morning to remove more than 100 other animals from the location, including many that were sick as a result of what the charity described as "appalling neglect" which they had uncovered the day before. Roosters, pheasants and a llama were among the animals transported to USPCA shelters.

Lurgan Shooting Probed

Shots have been fired into a flat in the Headington Lodge area of Lurgan. The incident happened at about 2230 BST on Friday. Two men, each wearing dark hoodies, got out of a dark coloured car with alloy wheels. One man fired two shots through the living room window into the flat.

Derry Car Torched

A car stolen in the Rosemount area of Londonderry on Sunday morning has been found burnt out in Lincoln Courts in the Waterside. The car was taken after a burglary at Lower Nassau Street in which money and a plasma television were also stolen.
