Mother Charged With Young Son' Murders

A woman has appeared in court charged with the murder of her two young children.

Jael Mullings, 21, appeared before Manchester City Magistrates' Court, accused of stabbing to death Romario Mullings-Sewell, two and his three-month-old brother Delayno at their Cheetham Hill, Manchester home.

She was bailed by magistrates until a hearing at Manchester Crown Court on 17 December.

Ms Mullings, who was sectioned under the Mental Health Act, must remain at Edenfield Hospital in Prestwich.

The case will be committed to Manchester Crown Court for a further hearing on December 17.

Officers discovered the boy's bodies after they were called to the family home in Kilmington Drive, shortly before 5.45pm on November 12.

Post mortem examinations carried out concluded both children died as a result of a single stab wound to their chests.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission is investigating Greater Manchester Police's response.

Meanwhile, Manchester City Council also announced an investigation into the contact between its children's services department and the family.

It emerged police were called to the house where the boys' bodies were found just hours before their deaths.
