Sex Offender Found Stabbed In Caravan

Police are investigating the death of a convicted sex offender, who was found stabbed to death in his caravan.

Andrew Cunningham, 52, died after suffering multiple stab wounds to the head, neck and chest.

The victim also suffered non-fatal injuries to "other parts of his body" Scotland yard confirmed.

His mutilated body was found at business premises in Wandsworth, south London.

Mr Cunningham who worked as a lorry driver, was convicted of a sex attack on a girl under the age of 16 in 2001, according to police sources.

Scotland Yard sources said he had recently been taken off the sex offenders' register.

A police spokesman said: "The man, believed to be in his mid-50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. He had suffered injuries believed to be stab wounds.

"The post mortem revealed non-fatal injuries to other parts of his body but we are not discussing these further or operational reasons."

According to reports, his injuries included wounds to his genitals.

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Scola, leading the investigation, said: "We're currently at an early stage in our inquiries and are keeping an open mind about the circumstances of this man's death.

"I would ask anyone who was in the area last night or in the early hours of this morning and saw or heard anything suspicious to get in touch with us."

New measures to curb sex tourism revealed
Registered sex offenders who travel abroad will have to notify the police if they plan to be away for three days or more, under new measure designed to tighten laws governing sex offenders. The government's Sexual Offences Bill today which will also see sex offenders required to give the police seven days notice of their intention to travel.

Three teenagers have been remanded in custody charged with the murder of a man who died after confronting a group of youths outside his home in Cheshire. It is believed that Garry Newlove, 47, was attacked after he confronted youths outside his home in Station Road North in Warrington on Friday night.
