Brown In US For Bailout Talks
The Prime Minister has arrived in America, ahead of crunch financial talks with President Barack Obama.
Gordon Brown has called for the two nations to work closer together, in order to 'magnify' the ongoing economic bailout packages.
It is believed the two statesmen will hold discussions for around half an hour in Washington today, making Mr Brown the newly-elected president's first European guest.
The two men will not hold a joint press conference, as previously expected.
Tomorrow the PM will become the fifth UK leader to address Congress.
Speaking ahead of the visit, Mr Brown said: "I think first of all to meet him (Mr Obama) as a person, you cannot but be impressed by his demeanour, his determination, not just his fluency, but his sympathy for the causes he represents."
Talks are set to be focused on the global recession, however, the leaders are also expected to discuss Iraq and Gaza.

The Prime Minister flew into the Maryland base on Sunday night ahead of the talks at Camp David. Reports that US President Barack Obama repeatedly 'snubbed' Prime Minister Gordon Brown while in New York, have been denied. Downing Street and the White House have both moved to clarify the situation, after a number of media outlets suggested Mr Obama had declined Mr Brown's requests for discussions five times.

Brown Talks Fuel With Industry Chiefs
The Prime Minister and the Chancellor are to meet oil industry leaders today to discuss spiralling fuel costs. Yesterday lorry drivers staged protests to demand cuts on diesel to salvage the British haulage industry. Police say that 100 lorries took part in the protests although there are reports that it was closer to 300.
